Exploring Our Community
Exploring Our Village — Preschool Adventures at Elizabeth Saunders Nursery!
At Elizabeth Saunders Nursery, our Preschool children have been busy exploring the wonderful world right on our doorstep! We’ve been making the most of our village with a series of exciting outings that help bring learning to life. Our adventures have taken us to the brand-new local coffee shop, Rebel, where the children proudly presented the barista with a Christmas card they had made themselves — a beautiful way to build confidence, communication skills, and kindness. We even stayed for cosy babychinos, giving the children a real-life opportunity to practise social skills and learn about the people who work in our community. We’ve also visited the donkeys and horses, sparking the children’s curiosity about animals and the natural world. There were big smiles all round as we ended our visit by singing our favourite nativity song, “Donkey Plodding,” encouraging musical expression and joyful group participation. Another favourite stop has been our local park, where the children developed their physical skills through climbing, balancing and exploring — all while building friendships and independence in a fun, active environment. Across these outings, the children have been naturally engaging in so many key Areas of Learning: • Communication & Language through conversations, singing and asking questions • Personal, Social & Emotional Development by showing kindness, confidence and teamwork • Physical Development on our walks and adventures in the park • Understanding the World as they discover local places, people, animals and community life • Expressive Arts & Design through singing, creating cards and imaginative play Our village outings help children connect learning with real experiences — building independence, curiosity and joyful memories along the way. We love giving our Preschool children opportunities to explore, discover and shine! ![]()
